Lost & Found
I was invited to participate in the Artist Residency program at Revolve Asheville in June of 2021. During that roughly 1 month period, I made a handful of paintings and sculptures that were put under the name “Lost & Found”, given that many of the ideas for the works had been set aside for a rainy day.
While the show was made up of works made in different creative modes (planning, improvising, working within a series), I feel like it brought these worlds together in a way I couldn’t premeditate and resulting in a new “range” that I was excited by.
A theme that arose was that of the “voyage”, internally and externally. What lies beyond your sight, passage of time, passage of the voyager - make of it what you will! My favorite work from the show was a lamp of sorts titled “You are the Light”- a simple model of the spirit shining through our material form. The form we take as people can be limiting, but also serves as a tool that articulates the spirit.
